eric stoltz as the original marty mcfly: back to the future footage

See Eric Stoltz as the original Marty McFly in the Back to The Future part 1.

Eric was originally casted for the iconic role but during the first few days of filming in 1985, Director Robert Zemeckis noted that the portayal of Marty lacked the comedic timing that Zemeckis wanted. According to Zemeckis:
“[Eric Stoltz] is a magnificent actor, but his comedy sensibilities were very different from what I’d written with [co-writer] Bob [Gale]. So I had to make this horrific [casting replacement] decision which was very heartbreaking for everybody. But luckily, I was able to convince the studio to let me reshoot the five weeks of work [with Michael J. Fox].”
The same clips will be seen in the Blu-ray version of Back To The Future coming out next month.

The Thing: Prequel in the Works

The Thing was the first horror-suspense film I saw that really, REALLY terrified me and triggered my phobia of John Carpenter movies! I remember seeing this on betamax when my Grandmother, who owned the very first betamax player in our community, would host a movie night for her Catholic Women's League buddies back in the early 80s.

Now there's a prequel in the works and the teaser premiered this week at Comic-Con. This one I got from youtube and is kinda blurry:

I hope this other one is better:

I'm not sure if I'm ready to see this version of The Thing as an adult 25 years later but just reminiscing about this movie already give me the creeps!

amy adams as janis joplin in biopic

Amy Adams is set to play rock 'n roll legend Janis Joplin (who died of heroine overdose in 1970) in an upcoming film to be produced by Twilight producer Wyck Godfrey.

According to Showbiz Spy:

Amy Adams is gonna be a rock star — on the big screen!
The Leap Year actress is reportedly in talks to play legendary musician Janis Joplin.
Twilight producer Wyck Godfrey brought up the project during a recent interview — and mentioned in passing that Adams would be starring as Joplin in a film about her life.

Entertainment Weekly says:
Amy Adams’ reps have confirmed that the 35-year-old actress will portray Janis Joplin in the biopic to be directed by Fernando Meirelles (City of God) and produced by Temple Hill Entertainment. Whether or not this movie actually makes it to the big screen is another matter entirely. Meirelles may be co-writing the most recent draft of the script, but he is set to direct360 — a BBC Films project written by Peter Morgan — prior to beginning work on Joplin. Also, the film does not yet have a studio partner, though a source says Temple Hill is talking to Fox Searchlight about the film. Until a deal is reached though, financing on the project remains shaky.

batman 3 to start shooting in april 2011

Batman 3 will start shooting April next year and Director Chris Nolan has stated that Heath Ledger will not be replaced as The Joker in any of the sequels. According to Dimewars.com,
For me, Heath was the definitive Joker," Nolan said, "It wouldn't feel appropriate to readdress that character."

On Entertainment Weekly:

Although Nolan, his brother Jonathan, and David S. Goyer are still working on the script, an insider confirms that, although subject to change, Warner Bros. is indeed on track for an April start date, and Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Gary Oldman are attached.
But Warner Bros. has also penciled in the next Batman for a July 20, 2012 release date. The studio was determined to set a definitive release date this far in advance due to the strong slate of other superhero movies to be released in the next two years.

Sex and the City 2 Review by Roger Ebert...Spoiler Alert!

Sex and the City 2: The Stories. The Fashion. The Adventure.
Trending today at Twitter is the scathing review of Roger Ebert on Sex and the City 2. Boy, rip the movie to pieces he does:

Sex and the City 2
Sex, about the same. City, Abu Dhabi.
Release Date: 2010
Ebert Rating:
By Roger Ebert May 25, 2010

Some of these people make my skin crawl. The characters of "Sex and the City 2" are flyweight bubbleheads living in a world which rarely requires three sentences in a row. Their defining quality is consuming things. They gobble food, fashion, houses, husbands, children, vitamins and freebies. They must plan their wardrobes on the phone, so often do they appear in different basic colors, like the plugs you pound into a Playskool workbench.
As we return to the trivialities of their lives for a sequel, marriage is the issue. The institution is affirmed in an opening sequence at a gay wedding in Connecticut that looks like a Fred Astaire production number gone horribly over budget. There's a 16-man chorus in white formal wear, a pond with swans, and Liza Minnelli to perform the ceremony. Her religious or legal qualifications are unexplained; perhaps she is present merely as the patron saint of gay men. After the ceremony, she changes to a Vegas lounge outfit and is joined by two lookalike backups for a song and dance routine possibly frowned upon in some denominations.

Then it's back to the humdrum married life of our gal Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and the loathsome Mr. Big (Chris Noth). Carrie, honey, how can you endure life with this purring, narcissistic, soft-velvet idiot? He speaks loudly enough to be heard mostly by himself, his most appreciative audience. And he never wants to leave the house at night, preferring to watch classic black-and-white movies on TV. This leads to a marital crisis. Carrie thinks they should talk more. But sweetheart, Mr. Big has nothing to say. At least he's provided you with a Manhattan apartment that looks like an Architectural Digest wet dream.

Brief updates. Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) is a high-powered lawyer who is dissed by her male chauvinist pig boss. Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) is still a sexaholic slut. Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) has the two little girls she thought she wanted, but now discovers that they actually expect to be raised. Mothers, if you are reading, run this through your head. One little girl dips her hands in strawberry topping and plants two big handprints on your butt. You are on the cell to a girlfriend. How do you report this? You moan and wail out: "My vintage Valentino!" Any mother who wears her vintage Valentino while making muffin topping with her kids should be hauled up before the Department of Children and Family Services.

All of this is pretty thin gruel. The movie shows enterprise, and flies the entire cast away to the emirate of Abu Dhabi, where the girls are given a $22,000-a-night suite and matching Maybachs and butlers, courtesy of a sheik who wants to have a meeting with Samantha and talk about publicity for his hotel.

This sequence is an exercise in obscenely conspicuous consumption, in which the girls appear in so many different outfits they must have been followed to the Middle East by a luggage plane. I don't know a whole lot about fashion, but I know something about taste, and these women spend much of the movie dressed in tacky, vulgar clothing. Carrie and Samantha also display the maximum possible boobage, oblivious to Arab ideas about women's modesty. There's more cleavage in this film than at a pro wrestler's wedding.

And crotches, have we got crotches for you. Big close-ups of the girls themselves, and some of the bulgers they meet. And they meet some. They meet the Australian world cup team, for example, which seems to have left its cups at home. And then there's the intriguing stranger Samantha meets at the hotel, whose zipper-straining arousal evokes the fury of an offended Arab guest and his wife. This prodigy's name is Rikard Spirt. Think about it.

Samantha is arrested for kissing on the beach, and there's an uncomfortable scene in which the girls are menaced by outraged men in a public market, where all they've done is dress in a way more appropriate for a sales reception at Victoria's Secret. They're rescued by Arab women so well covered only their eyes are visible, and in private these women reveal that underneath the burkas they're wearing Dior gowns and so forth. Must get hot.

I wondered briefly whether Abu Dhabi had underwritten all this product placement, but I learn the "SATC2" was filmed in Morocco, which must be Morocco's little joke. That nation supplies magnificent desert scenes, achieved with CGI, I assume, during which two of the girls fall off a camel. I haven't seen such hilarity since "Abbott and Costello in the Foreign Legion."

The movie's visual style is arthritic. Director Michael Patrick King covers the sitcom dialogue by dutifully cutting back and forth to whoever is speaking. A sample of Carrie's realistic dialogue in a marital argument: "You knew when I married you I was more Coco Chanel than coq au vin." Carrie also narrates the film, providing useful guidelines for those challenged by its intricacies. Sample: "Later that day, Big and I arrived home."

Truth in reviewing: I am obliged to report that this film will no doubt be deliriously enjoyed by its fans, for the reasons described above. Male couch potatoes dragged to the film against their will may find some consolation. Reader, I must confess that while attending the sneak preview with its overwhelmingly female audience, I was gob-smacked by the delightful cleavage on display. Do women wear their lowest-cut frocks for each other?

News - Megan Fox Dropped From Transformers 3 - Movies, TV & Music - UsMagazine.com

Posted using ShareThis

After comparing Michael Bay to Hitler and continuing to badmouth him, Megan Fox is being replaced in the 3rd sequel of Transformers. According to MSN, Gemma Atterton (of Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia fame) is one of the leading candidates for the coveted role.

Here's an excerpt from the Us Magazine article:

"Maybe Megan Fox should have kept her mouth shut.

After months of loudly bashing director Michael Bay, the actress has been dropped from Transformers 3, Paramount Pictures confirms to UsMagazine.com.
Fox, 24, slammed the franchise as "not about acting" in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in which she also accused Bay of making her model 18 skimpy outfits and wash his car while filming the first movie. In another interview, she called Bay "Hitler" and said he was a "nightmare to work for."

Bay snapped back that Fox "needs to grow up" and she owes him her career."

Thor in 2011! For Odin's Beard! For Asgard!

For Odin's Beard! For Asgard! Chris Hemsworth Is Done!

After seeing Ironman 2 for the 2nd time and waiting for the full end credits with the bonus scene for the 2nd time as well, got curious if there is indeed a Thor movie in the making and came across this article at comicbooked.com (by the way to all fanboys and comic geeks out there this is an awesome site! follow it on twitter!---thanks to@Jon Favreau for the link).

According to IMDB, the movie is directed by Kenneth Branagh, award winning-actor and director who is more known for his Shakespearean movies. Marvel probably is banking on the same uniqueness that Jon Favreau, who is also more known as an actor than as a director, brought to Iron Man. Playing the God of Thunder is Chris Hemsworth, an Australian actor recently seen in Star Trek where he played as George Kirk,  James Kirk's father.

Thor is slated to premiere in May 6, 2011... a year to go but certainly worth the wait, especially when the Avengers movie comes out in 2012!

Kristin Davis: Weight Was Never An Issue in Sex and the City

Contrary to the absurd claims of tabloids, Kristin Davis has stated in an interview with UK Magazine that Sex and the City producers never asked her to lose weight...ever.

"No one at 'Sex and The City' has ever asked any of us four girls to lose weight. Thank God," she said, naming outsiders as the source of most of the negative body talk she receives. "You get a lot of criticism out in the world or on the Internet about how you look. Fat here, fat there. Hippy this, hippy that. That has been my entire career."
Only in Hollywood where gorgeous people like Kristin gets to be called as "fat"...seesh

Girl Power DVD Marathon list for the long weekend

With the long weekend ahead, was thinking of having a DVD marathon and to celebrate Women's month, would like to share some movies I love which have been both heart-wrenching and empowering for women. The list is not ordered in any way but I placed my 2 most favorites on top of the list:

1.  The Color Purple
My favorite line in the movie: "I think it pisses God off when you walk by the color
purple and you don't notice it."

2. The Bridges of Madison County
If you've found "The One", would you let him go? For me, the most poignant part
of the story/ movie was when Francesca was holding on to the door lock of her
husband's truck, seeing the whites of her knuckles and trying with all her might to
fight the urge to open it and run to her Robert. I don't think I would have the
same courage as Francesca especially when Robert declared "This kind of
certainty comes but once in a lifetime and never again."

3. The Joy Luck Club
Best mother-daughter movie. Favorite line in the movie was from An-Mei: " I tell
you the story because I was raised the Chinese way. I was taught to desire
nothing, to swallow other people's misery, and to eat my own bitterness. And even
though I taught my daughter the opposite, still she came out the same way. Maybe
it is because she was born to me and she was born a girl, and I was born to my
mother and I was born a girl, all of us like stairs, one step after another, going up,
going down, but always going the same way. No, this cannot be, this not knowing
what you're worth, this not begin with you. My mother not know her worth until
too late - too late for her, but not for me. Now we will see if not too late for you,
    hmm?"

 4. Memoirs of a Geisha
Where Ken Watanabe became a crush :-) sigh...
To overcome all obstacles, all for love...
Tear-jerker line from Sayuri "Can't you see? Every step I have taken, since I was
that child on the bridge, has been to bring myself closer to you."

5. Practical Magic
One of my sister's all time faves. Gives a new meaning to sisterhood!

6. The Devil Wears Prada
Loved Meryl Streep here! She is in a word LETHAL and yet you can't help but
look up to her as the boss from hell. Kinda reminds me of my previous job though
my boss was never like that. What I related to was how much I learned about my
potential skills and hidden strength in such a hellish environment.

7.  The First Wives Club
Well this was my all-time favorite chick-empowering movie before Sex and the
City came. A must-see! First wives always get the last laugh!

8. Sex and the City
The list wouldn't be complete without the girls who made sex glamorous!

John Malkovich and Frances McDormand in Transformers 3

Whoa...Oscar-greats signs on to be in the "robots in disguise" sequel? This story from Jeff Sneider of Parallel Universe is as perplexing as the riddle of the Sphynx!

I have no idea where Director Michael Bay is bringing Transformers 3's story line with this one but I sure hope that it would be a major improvement from Transformers 2 which was one of the big disappointments of 2009.

Transformers 3 is set to be released in July 2011.
